Truth Wins Out Strongly Urges DC to Reject Divisive Bible Museum
Hobby Lobby’s Green Family Directly Tied To Right Wing Extremists
CHICAGO – Truth Wins Out strongly urged Washington, DC officials today to reject plans to build a National Bible Museum only blocks from the National Mall. The project, conceived and funded by Hobby Lobby owner Steve Green, would make a mockery of surrounding museums, which are based on research, history, and scholarship.
Yesterday, Truth Wins Out’s Center Against Religious Extremism (TWOCARE.org) released a new report, “Hobby Lobby Case Linked to Secret National Prayer Breakfast Group,” that highlighted the Green family’s strong link to leading right wing ideologues.
“Leaders in Washington should soundly reject a theme park for extremism disguised as a legitimate museum,” said Truth Wins Out’s Executive Director Wayne Besen. “A Green-funded museum would likely proselytize and promote one radical strain of Christianity, at the exclusion of more tolerant and versions of the faith. National Mall museums should be about genuine scholarship, not divisive, sectarian efforts to evangelize.”
Truth Wins Out (TWO) is a non-profit organization that works to demolish the very foundation of anti-gay prejudice. Our philosophy is simple: We attack the underpinnings of homophobia by debunking harmful lies, discrediting hateful myths, and countering anti-gay organizations. By chipping away at the underlying ignorance that fuels anti-LGBT attitudes, we can ultimately win our fight for fairness and achieve full equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people worldwide.
